In one of my friend's case they approved H1 for 6 months, because he had contract only for 6 months. He just completed 3 years and this is his first extension request. :eek: Who the hell in this world writes contract for more than 6 months even if they have requirements for next 2 years.
Another case I heard was immigration officer at POE granted only 1 year I-94 even though he had 2 years left in his visa. It seems IO spoke to candidates manager and advised him to hire someone locally and get him trained within a year.
Are we in real United States of America? So much of hate around.
Which service center was your friend from? California Service Center is said to be the most restrictive one and they have been giving out H1B only for the duration of contracts. This doesn't make any sense as who in this consulting world and in this economy can give a commitment for a full 3 years of H1B extension. Vermont is supposed to be more liberal as compared to California, but we can never tell.
My company filed for a 7 yr extension of H1B and I received an RFE. RFE has become the norm for H1B for 90% of cases for all consulting companies. My lawyer was smart to predict in advance that I should expect an RFE.

You might want to condider visiting the immigration office to explain to them that the date on i94 seems to be a mistake as the visa is for 2 full years. Me too in Same situation had Masters degree but in 2003 we thought Category wont matter much as dates were current..Hmm look what it got us into now for EB3's

Scott, yes, very much. I still have my bonus from 2002, but it was shifted to my daughter's education account. Waiting for my 2003 bonus payout soon, if any? Usually it occurs in late January.

Get images of checks cashed by USCIS, your receipt numbers are stamped on the back side of the checks. Use these RNs to call up USCIS and change your address.

What kind of documents/letters/evidence has your current employer included in your application to prove that the two positions are > 50% different? Is there a standard procedure for doing this? Too many questions...sorry. But I hope you understand my situation :(. Please provide you responses. That will greatly help.

Couple of questions : I am planning to apply for EAD . I have already filed 485 on July 2 and got receipt no.s .
1. where to file : Here is the catch when filing 485 i am in IL and later moved on to CT. I have updated all addresses etc to CT and everything fine. Since i was in IL for 485 I applied to NSC now i am in CT and here it is VSC for form EAD. So where should i send my application to NSC or VSC?
2. Efile or regular : which is good efile or regular filing. I filing myself and requested attorney's view he said he would prefer normal way as its better and i can see checks cashing and make that a proof of receipt in case of reciept notice lost.
Need ur views.

3. Not necessarily. But be prepared to answer questions. If you are unable to prove your intention to be permanently residing in US, upon US GC, that can be an issue.
Basically you have to claim that you have proper intentions now, and at the time of applications of canadian PR and US GC. Also you have to claim that you plan to reside in US permanently if you receive US GC.

No one can make a decision for ya... based on the historical data, both EB2 & EB3 are doing bad especially in regards to your PD. So just flip a coin or think of your favorite God and make a decision. You have no other choice.

Employer says he can file only 485 and no EAD for me. But he can file EAD/AP for my wife.
Can I file EAD/AP for me separately on my own? What are the consequences from my employer if I quit after six months of applying 485 (by that time I would've got my EAD/AP)? Can he reject my 140 and/or 485?
You can apply for EAD at anytime. All you will need is a copy of your I-485 AOS receipt (which I think USCIS will send to you, but I am not sure).
After 6 months (180 days to be exact), your employer cannot revoke I-140 (and hence I-485) if you invoke AC21.
