It has limited relevance, the issue is the integrity of the Senator, he has admitted to the issue at hand but he went on the Senate floor as an elected public official to make declaratory and restrictionist anti-immigration statements, attacked immigrants, proposed and supported anti-immigrant ammendments and all this with the foundation of his positive public image, integrity and moral uprightness. We are thus not discussing the list he is on, but are simply taking note of the Senator's credibility on an issue that affects us. Anything beyond that would be inappropriate and not relevant to our issues.

This is a simple and straightforward case.
Rules are: You are allowed to change the company but you should be in "same or similar" position.
Your new company will have to agree to continue to support the existing green card process i.e. they may have to give employment verification letter if and when asked by USCIS..
All in all I think you are in the safe..

Is there any list of H-1B sponsers who can sponser H1 for Dentist ?
Lot of dentists maintain legal status by using Kaplan Visa ie they register for courses in Kaplan coaching and get i 20 from them. Guess u need get hold of these folks in their user forums, you may get a route how h1b sponsership works out.

Anyone heard of this? Some people can individually claim greencards for extraordinary circumstances. I wonder if our force of numbers waiting extraordinarily long might enable a private bill to succeed. Here is a news item:
Rare immigration bills pass Congress (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/12/15/national/a161850S17.DTL)
Sounds Interesting.

Hi, This is my first time here. I have been hearing a lot about H1-extensions facing challenges. One of my friends, who is a consultant has got his H1-extended only for a the next 6 months. I understood from him that his client manager was called and asked how long his project will last and since the answer was, "6 months as of now, and longer if the market picks up", he was given the extn for 6 months. Another friend of mine who works full-time in a technology company has got his H1 extended for 3 years. My question: Has any of you(if you are a consultant) got your visa extended for 3 years, or do you know of a consultant who has got his visa extended for 3 years in the last few months. I know, that consultants face a lot of scrutiny, but wanted to confirm if for all of them, the extensions are limited.

No, you do not need to go out of US if the I-797 (H1-B approval) comes with an I-94 card.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. Please don't be tough on me.
I received the folowing letter from NVC. The case is for my dad. He originally filed under F4, priority date 13Jul2000.
What does it mean and what we should do?
Many thanks.
===========================================
Dear Sir/Madam:
Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).
A letter was previously mailed to the Agent of Choice or Attorney of
Record requesting the amendment of previously submitted applicant forms
and/or required applicant documents that have not been submitted. The
documents listed on the letter and/or the amended forms must be
submitted to the assigned US Embassy or Consulate General at the time of
interview.
The applicant's name has been placed on the list of documentarily
qualified cases awaiting the availability of visa numbers under the
numerical limitations prescribed by statute. The designated
representative of this case (applicant, petitioner, or attorney) will be
notified of an appointment date as soon as the numbers have been
received. The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell
property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate
General has issued a visa.
An immigrant visa is usually valid for six months from the date it is
issued. It may be used to apply for admission into the United States any
time during its validity.

ICE officials provided a copy of a new policy memo (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7169978.html)dated Aug. 20 that instructs government attorneys to review the court cases of people with pending applications to adjust status based on their relation to a U.S. citizen. ICE estimates in the memo that the effort could affect up to 17,000 cases.
The Department of Homeland Security is systematically reviewing thousands of pending immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records, according to several sources familiar with the efforts.
Opponents of illegal immigration were critical of the dismissals.
"They've made clear that they have no interest in enforcing immigration laws against people who are not convicted criminals," said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates for strict controls.
In a June 30 memo, ICE Assistant Secretary John Morton outlined the agency's priorities, saying it had the capacity to remove about 400,000 illegal immigrants annually about 4 percent of the estimated illegal immigrant population in the country. The memo outlines priorities for the detention and removal system, putting criminals and threats to national security at the top of the list.
We expect more cases terminations across the United States in the next several months.

It is a good opportunity for state chapters. Unfortunately not many state chapters are yet formed despite having 8000+ members. We have members from every state but only a handful state members are actively working. Unless we all ourselves take responsibility and actively organize and participate in state chapters it is tough to use the grassroots level strength of this organization. We have more than a thousand members coming everyday to this site and posting ideas, opinions and what IV should do and what IV should not do. We all can achieve everything easily if everyone actively makes their state chapters alive and participate. If you feel that there is nobody in your chapter, then take a lead role and organize it. If you find that few members have signed up, and nothing is happening, then PM all those that are signed up and start working on action items.
pls use this link to sign up and start taking active role in your state chapter today

USCIS Revises Filing Instructions and Direct Mail Program for the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90)
WASHINGTON U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services (USCIS) published a Federal Register notice on April 28, 2009 that changed the filing location and filing instructions for the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90). The revised filing instructions require applicants to submit supporting documentation with their applications. Prior to this change, applicants were instructed to bring their supporting documentation to their biometrics appointments. The notice also revises the Direct Mail address for the Form I-90. Applicants must now file their Form I-90 and supporting documentation with the USCIS Lockbox facility in Phoenix.
This change in filing location affects all I-90 applicants filing a paper form, including those applicants filing the I-90 because their previously issued card was never received or because their existing card has incorrect data due to a USCIS error. This notice does not affect applicants filing an I-90 electronically or whose place of residence is outside the United States.
Beginning on April 28, 2009, applicants must submit their Form I-90 and supporting documentation to the USCIS Lockbox facility in Phoenix for initial processing, using the following addresses:
