I am going thru the same thing...To answer your question, the travel agent told me that if my passport stamp had expired, I would need a transit visa for all European airports. I would not need a transit visa if I take a direct flight to middle-eastern airports (like Kuwait City, Dubai etc)..The transit visa might take a couple of weeks via mail.....

Renew you AP before Feb 25, 2009. You are usually paroled upto an year from the date of entry.

Interesting poll. I have a small suggestion, though.. If you want unbiased data, you cannot ask leading questions on any survey. For instance, if you ask "Are you a free-rider?", and you are clearly conveying what is the "right" answer.
Ask very neutral questions on the poll. Also, make it anonymous to encourage participation. Pare down questions so that they are distinct and mutually exclusive.
At least that way you'll get better data to work with for analysis.

depends on how you filed it, if its premium processing, you get a decision in 4 to 6 days.. amazing what an extra 1000 dollars can do. I waited 4 years to get my labor approved and I-140 in 14 days with premium processing.

Its true that Consulting companies take a good part of your BILL-RATE but other stuffs may not be THAT bad.
I'm working thru such a small company for last 3 years and this is my 4th client... 3 of the 4 clients were provided by them, no bench so far. They dont give me BillRate share but we work with a Negotiated Resonable salary based on the Cost of Living of the City where i work/consult for.....
Discuss the Terms and put in email as well as Paper before Joining - Be on Top of them even if they want to change a single spelling in that Terms Paper. You got to be very tough , aggressive as well as resistive with them for any changes they want to script against you.
I have been working for state government from past 3 years (approx) under a non-caped H1b with EB2 2006 labor cleared and i-140 pending and 485 filed in aug.
Considering the constraints of non-cap h1b , I asked a consultant to apply for my caped h1b in april. At that time 485 was not current and according to my estimation my PD would not have become current for 2-3 years more, so I thought of moving with a caped h1b to private firm. You all know what happened in july regarding 485.
Recently my caped H1b got approved. Since I have already filed for 485, I have decided to be with present firm for 6 months then think of changing using the new caped h1b and AC21 to private firm through consultant.
But I have heard that when one works for consultant, its easy not to get paid for certain months during project transition or while looking for project. With the result�.its affects the H1b status. Now that my immigration status is clean, is it worth moving to consultant and risk my clean status�??? Is working for consultant a big compromise against immigration status�??? I have added your treasure trove and "old school web design" stamps :) I think the text in some of the other stamps needs some work. More specifically, I'm seeing a lot of words. The good stamps I've seen use more visual imagery as opposed to text to convey information very quickly.

I have been thru K-1 crap and finally got my wife here from vietnam. I only have one last thing to say to you all......you should ALL be working for the red tape system. No one willing to take a second and offer ANY useful advice, which was my query. Instead I have not filled out the proper form, crossed all the T's and dotted the I's and can't get any help...form rejected....NEXT!

I got my GC last year august but her gc/485 status is still pending. Is it even possible based on her case was dependent on me? What can I do abt it. Thanks.

Hi All,
I have got fingerprint notice and appointment is after 3 weeks in Charlotte NC. I will not be available on that day and do not want to postpone the appointment.
I would like to prepone the appointment and I tried to find Charlotte USCIS local phone number but could not find anywhere. The only number is general 800 number and that was of no use.
Does anyone have any experience with Charlotte office? Can I just go there and will they do fingerprint any day before actual appointment? Charlotte is around 4 hours drive. It will be painful to drive there and find that they don't do fingerprint before appointment day. What day is normally good if I want to take the chance? Have anyone actually called them and prepone the appointment? What is the local office phone number?
These are two many questions. But all are related. Sorry for being so long and thanks in advance for your response...

Not sure if you can prepone. Call the customer service and check if they can schedule sooner. I think, given the July fiasco/rush, they schedule based on the availabilty of appointment in local office.
Also can you please share you reciept date/notice date and when you received your FP appointment. Was your case directly sent to TSC or got trasnferred to TSC from other center.

Well, you don't really have a choice now, do you? If she stays on in the US, she will extend her invalid status period. She cannot apply for a COS to H4 in the US because she doesn't have paystubs. Her only option is to go to India and get an H4 stamped and pronto. As to denial, it's all in the visa officer's hands.

Try orbitz.com. You can book tickets from India and pay in USD. If the airline you selected still issues paper tickets instead of e-tickets then orbitz mails the tickets to your US address.
